This year’s Arvid Carlsson Award by Sahlgrenska Science Park was awarded to Anna-Carin Olin with team, PExA, for turning academic cross-functional research into a marketed solution that addresses the rising need for biomarker identification and early diagnosis of lung disease through non-invasive measurement of the small airways.

We caught up with Sanna Venetvaara, Head of Centre of Excellence Innovation Nordics, and Vatroslav Mateljic, General Manager Sweden, to talk about the global pharma company’s engagement in the event and about this year’s theme: sector convergence.

The trend of sector convergence is more or less unstoppable. Businesses must engage with it or they risk being left behind, says Hanna Sonning, Associate at Setterwalls business law firm, one of the Gold Sponsors for this year’s Park Annual event.

“Covid-19 meant that a lot of research and clinical validation had to stop. But for us it meant that we could start,” says Stefan Malmberg, CEO Detectivio.

“To ensure that advancement made in academia benefits society, it is important that researcher engage in translating their research for wider use” says Professor Jens Nielsen, CEO BioInnovation Institute, Copenhagen, an internationally respected scientist who has published more than 700 scientific articles that have been cited more than 70,000 times.

SidekickHealth was awarded this year's eHealth Award at the Vitalis conference this morning. The eHealth Award is an annual award to Nordic small businesses that have an innovative eHealth solution or product that has shown benefits for patients, citizens, healthcare professionals or healthcare organisations.

They want to help addicts get sober and stay sober. Now Cairy, a part of Sahlgrenska Science Park’s community, launches a new version of their digital platform. The goal is to become the world’s best social community for an alcohol free lifestyle.

The corona crisis does not only mean layoffs and unemployment. In the midst of the pandemic, MYoroface, part of Sahlgrenska Science Park’s community, has set its sales record several times and is now recruiting.
