Incubator company from Sahlgrenska Science Park acquired in deal worth over SEK 60 Million

The technology company Sightic, which develops technology to detect impairment states through the analysis of eye movements and behavioral patterns, has been acquired by Smart Eye in a deal valued at just over SEK 60 million. The purchase price may increase by an additional amount of up to SEK 50 million through earn-outs linked to future performance.

The company was developed within Sahlgrenska Science Park’s incubator, Co-Ax Accelerator, and is an example of how research- and technology-based companies from the region reach the international market.

– Becoming part of Smart Eye is an important step in our journey. It gives us the opportunity to scale our technology internationally and reach a broader audience with solutions that can contribute to safer vehicles and traffic environments. The incubator support was crucial when we moved from idea to concrete product development, and at an early stage it meant a lot to have an external party that believed in what we were building, says Stefani Najafi, co-founder of Sightic.

Sightic participated in the Co-Ax Accelerator incubator program between 2019 and 2024 and received support in business development, investor contacts, pitch training, and verification funding. Through the incubator, early collaborations were established within the automotive industry, laying the foundation for the company’s market entry. The support also provided access to valuable industry contacts that helped the company grow more quickly in its early stages.

– When companies that have grown in our environment become part of an international group, it shows that long-term innovation support, the right networks, and sustained entrepreneurship make a real difference. This is exactly the kind of journey we want to enable, says Emma Hallenberg, Head of Incubation at Co-Ax Accelerator at Sahlgrenska Science Park.

For Sightic, the deal represents an opportunity to take the technology further globally together with an established player in driver monitoring and human–machine interaction.
