About the Arvid Carlsson Award

Since 2017, Sahlgrenska Science Park has honored innovation, knowledge, and entrepreneurship through the Arvid Carlsson Award, presented each year at Park Annual.


The award celebrates individuals who combine scientific excellence with entrepreneurial spirit—values that reflect the legacy of Nobel Prize laureate Arvid Carlsson.

Who can be nominated?

Entrepreneurs in life science who drive progress in human health and wellbeing. Candidates may come from academia, healthcare, or industry.

The ambition is to recognize promising and future leaders and to encourage continuous learning, groundbreaking innovation, and global networking in life science.

About Arvid Carlsson

Arvid Carlsson (1923–2018) received the Nobel Prize in Medicine (2000) for his groundbreaking discoveries on neurotransmitters in the nervous system.

Beyond his pioneering research, Carlsson was a true entrepreneur and a long-time member of the Sahlgrenska Science Park community. His legacy continues through this award that bears his name.
